Robert G. Schomer, of Elcho, died on April 13, 2025 surrounded by his family at the age of 83 years old. He was born on May 24, 1941 in Menominee, MI, a son of Merwin and Marie (Gokey) Schomer. He married Sharon Brendemihl on June 17, 1961 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Marinette. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2015.
He was a graduate of Menominee High School in Michigan. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps for four years at Camp Pendleton in California. Robert and Sharon returned to Marinette to raise their family, and he worked at Marinette Marine as a ship builder.
Robert moved to Elcho in 2003. You could find him most mornings at Trina's Cafe in Elcho enjoying coffee and toast with the kind staff. Robert was a craftsman, and also liked to work outside on yard work. He was active in many sports, and enjoyed coaching others.
Survivors include two daughters, Carrie (Daniel) Davis of Burnsville, MN and Chris Jandrey of Marinette; six grandchildren, Benjamin (Kristin) Davis, Steffan (Emily) Davis, Timothy (Corey) Davis, Nathan (Samantha) Jandrey, Tyler Jandrey, and Tiffany Jandrey; five great-grandchildren, Abby Davis, Brayden Davis, Daria Davis, Alexander Davis, and Callie Henry; three sisters, Rose, Betty, and MaryAnn; and two brothers, Gary and Ervin.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Russell, Richard, and Walter; and sister, Shirley.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo. Military Honors will take place following the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Elcho Cemetery.
