Robert Allen "Bob" Scotten, 87, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away at home on July 4, 2024. He was born February 22, 1937, in Harrington, DE, to the late Elwood and Edna (Baker) Scotten. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Lonning) Scotten, and son, Michael.
After serving honorably in the Army (Vietnam veteran), and attending Salisbury State, he worked for the RR 4 decades, mostly as district manager for the RR Perishable Insp. Agency, Balt/DC region. Bob, a generous man, loved to play board games with Joyce, Jim, and Dale and go to FL in winter.
He was a member of Mt. Lena UMC.
He is survived by his current wife of 19 years, Joyce (Brining) Scotten; his son, Nick and wife Margie; his son Peter Nolan and family; his grandchildren, Amanda (Scotten) Loeschorn, Michaela (Scotten) Shuhnicki, and Elise Scotten and their families; his great-grandchildren, Nora, Levi, August, and Violet; his nieces, Rhonda and Shelby; Joyce's children Sandra Blickenstaff and husband Tom, and Keith Brining, and wife Denise; grandchildren, Wesley, Lisha, and Sami; and many great-grandchildren will also greatly miss him.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 on Tues, July 9, 2024, at Mt. Lena United Methodist, Boonsboro. His son, Rev. Dr. Nick Scotten, will officiate. The family will receive visitors at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home on Mon, July 8, from 6-8. Interment will be held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Lena UMC or Hospice of Wash.
