Robert Scronce Obituary
Robert was born on November 18, 1931 in DuQoin, IL, a son of Robert Lyle and Bonnie Roseann Scarber Sronce.
Robert moved to Quincy in the 1950s and was employed by the Courtel Beauty Salon for four years before opening the House of Robert Salon on Maine Street, which would be moved to 14th and State. He operated The House of Robert for five years. Robert was then employed by the Key Beauty Salon for the next 20 years. In 1990 Robert opened Mr. Robert's 8th Street Beauty Salon.
Robert taught hairdressing at the Quincy Beauty Academy and Gem City College for ten years.
Robert was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Quincy Hairdressers Association, where he was a former board member, and the National Cosmetology Association.
Survivors include his partner of 30 years, Robert E. "Bobby" Riney Jr. of Quincy; his adopted son, John (Courtney Hodge) Riney of Bacliff, TX; his grandson, Evan Robert Riney; his sister, Judy (Don) Lovel of Herrin, IL; a niece, who he raised, Sandy (Ed) Hoglan of Plainview, TX and other nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Merrill and George Philip Scronce, and two sisters: Rita Slaughter and Jane Robinson.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Service: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Stacey Nicholas officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL
