Mr. Charles Alex Scronce, age 92, of York, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bratton Funeral Home, located at 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. A funeral service will be held the following day at 2:00 p.m. at Sharon Baptist Church, 3850 York St, Sharon, SC 29742, with Reverend Mark Dellinger officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.
Alex was born on February 2, 1933, in Edgefield, SC, to the late Vance Lanier Scronce and Mildred Mablee Jarrett Scronce. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he dedicated 33 years of his life to his career as a truck driver before retiring. A devoted member of Sharon Baptist Church, Alex found joy in his tractors, lawnmowers, woodworking, and spending time in his shop.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary Elizabeth Horne Scronce; his daughters, Deborah Bolin (Roger) and Cheryl Hill; his son, Glenn Scronce; his grandchildren, Travis White (Beth), Josh Scronce, and Chad Hill; and his great-grandchildren, Caleb and Aayden Hill. He is also survived by his sister, Joann McDaniel.
In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Gracie Elizabeth Scronce, and his siblings: Lee Scronce, Artense Gore, Olean Derriso, Bill Scronce, Butter Cup Scronce, Ted Scronce, and Dan Scronce.
In loving memory of Alex, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospice, 500 Lakeshore Pkwy, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
