Robert W. Selgrad

Robert "Bob" Wayne Selgrad, age 91, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2025 at his home in Glenview, IL. Bob was born on November 25, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Stephan J. and June Nemeth Selgrad. He graduated from Schurz High School, attended Northwestern University, and graduated with an engineering degree from Purdue University. As co-founder of an Industrial Noise Control company and his work in sales, Bob was known for exceptional customer service: when his phone rang, he would never let it go to voicemail, even answering it in the middle of a golf shot! Bob was a very social person and thoroughly enjoyed experiences with his many friends and couples club members; racquetball, golf, sailing in Lake Geneva, dinners, traveling, cruising, and commiserating about the Cubs. He had a penchant for striking up conversations with random people and staying in touch with them years later, as well as calling people to wish them a happy birthday. Bob served the community through his dedicated involvement in the Kiwanis Club of Glenview, the Glenview Community Church (GCC) Men's Ministry, and the Murray Hills community of Lake Worth, FL.
Bob was the devoted husband of Marilyn Boynton Selgrad, the love of his life of nearly 70 years. He was a loving father to his four children: Randall (Carol), James (Jill), Michael (Julie) and Karen Smith, and beloved "Papa" to his eight grandchildren: Jenna, Jessica (Ryan), Chris (Paige), Kimberly (Nathan), Olivia Selgrad and Zack (Hannah), Logan and Blake Smith and new great-granddaughter, Sawyer Kennedy Selgrad. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends but will always be in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 24th, at Glenview Community Church, located at 1000 Elm Street, Glenview, IL, followed by a visitation/reception with the family from 12-2pm. Interment in GCC's Memorial Garden will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook Foundation, PO Box 2831, Glenview, IL 60026 would be greatly appreciated.
