Robert (Bob) John Sievers, 80, passed away unexpectedly at his home in
Dublin, OH on December 31, 2025. Bob was born on April 26, 1945, in
Pittsburgh, PA to Walter V. and Mary Catherine Sievers (Nestler).
Bob lived in many different places in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio while growing up before his family settled in Pittsburgh near his maternal grandparents. He started working as a teenager in the local grocery store and doing odd jobs around the neighborhood. Bob was a 1963 graduate of Schenley High School in Pittsburgh. He also attended Allegheny Technical Institute.
Bob was hired by Boeing to work in Florida on NASA projects including the Apollo Space Program. He was then drafted into the Army in August 1966. He served as a Flight Operations Specialist and Air Traffic Controller at Fort Rucker in Alabama where he helped train new Huey helicopter pilots heading to Vietnam. Most of the student pilots were second lieutenants that had just completed their training in Texas. He was discharged from the Army in August 1968. Bob often talked about his time at Boeing and the Army as some of the best times of his life.
After being discharged from the Army, Bob was hired by Western Electric at the Pittsburgh Service Center where he started as a technician repairing telephone sets and worked his way up to a department manager in accounting and then HR.
He married Barbara Ann Froelich on June 5, 1971, at Church of the Holy Angels in Hays Corner, PA.
Bob graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in business administration in 1978.
When the Pittsburgh Service Center of Western Electric closed in 1982, Bob and his family moved to Columbus, OH. He took an account executive job for AT&T equipment sales based in Columbus, Ohio. Bob was promoted to Training Manager at the Dublin Training Center in 1990. He managed Transmission Training and Development before becoming a Global Training Manager, working and traveling extensively in China and Mexico. Bob took a retirement offer in 2001 and returned to school at Franklin University where he earned his master's degree in marketing and communication in 2003.
Bob then became an adjunct professor, teaching marketing and business courses for several universities including Franklin University, Ohio Dominican University, Union Commonwealth University in Kentucky, and the University of the Cumberlands also in Kentucky. He also started his own company, Consumer Trends, to help others with their strategic planning needs.
Bob was a sweet, generous man, a hard worker, and the epitome of a life well lived. Bob was an active member of AmSpirit Business Connections and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Plain City.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Ann (Froelich) Sievers in 2020 after an extended illness.
