Robert Simak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Kampp Funeral Home on Feb. 5, 2025.
Robert Henry Simak, 82, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 with his loving family by his side. "Bob" was born October 31, 1942, the son of Henry and Eleanor Simak of Cicero, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Linda and Lynette. A loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Bob is survived by his wife Jerilyn, his daughters Jennifer Gilmartin (husband, Keith) and Kimberly Simak (partner, David), his grandchildren Jacob (20), Abigail (19) and Kaylie (17).
Bob attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL. where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. At Bradley he met his wife of 58 years, Jerilyn Price. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Air National Guard for 6 years. Bob & Jerilyn then made a lasting home in Wheaton, IL.
Bob enjoyed a variety of interests and activities. He was a skilled bowler and loved boating, fishing, water skiing and tubing. An avid fisherman, he fished local waters and lakes in Indiana, Michigan and Minnesota, where he took many camping trips up to the Boundary Waters.
Bob also loved to travel. With his work, as an International Industrial Sales Director, he traveled worldwide. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially to Disney World (where he was the "king of the roller coasters"), summers in Michigan on White Lake and cruising the Caribbean, Alaska and the East Coast. He traveled as far as Hawaii and as close as Eagle Ridge in Galena, IL. And last, but never least, he loved to play golf with friends and his wife, Jerilyn.
As an active and involved grandparent (nicknamed Paka, by his young grandson), he attended a limitless number of football, baseball, softball, basketball and lacrosse games, many band/orchestra programs and dance recitals.
He will be missed by all those who knew him!
In lieu of flowers, his family has requested donations, in his name, be given to Tunnel To Towers Foundation.
Visitation Friday, February 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd. in Wheaton, IL. Memorial Mass Saturday, February 15, 2025, 10:00 AM, at St. Daniel The Prophet Catholic Church, located at 101 West Loop Road in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be private.

Lenny and I actually had the opportunity to work with Bob, many, many years ago (like 30 years ago). But more recently, have enjoyed many, many dinners with him and Jeri, usually in Long Grove, where we laughed and talked about those days many years ago. We are so sorry for this loss. We will remember and treasure those dinners forever!
Fondly, Karen and Lenny Magnifico

We heard about Bob´s passing today. We have very fond memories of Bob and his family the summers they spent at the White Sands Resort in Montague, Michigan. Sending our love and sympathies to the Simak Families.

In our youth we were much closer with families frequently visiting one another (our parents). I regret I had lost touch with Bob once we were in our "teens." I did have the good fortune to have lunch with Bob and his wife some years ago. Our lives move us in different directions though we were geographically close. I do not know Bob's circumstances that led to this and so sorry to here of his passing. I and hopefully we had had many good memories from our younger days when it was a ritual to visit at Christmas and other holidays with our parents. Roger, Bill Simak's son, was the other of the cousins that we hung out with on visits. Though we have been apart, the memories last. The best to his family (recall he has 2 daughters) in these difficult times and always. So sorry.

Jim Simak (son of James Simak Hank's brother)
