Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday December 30, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. (The funeral service may be viewed via livestream from link on Mr. Simpson's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.) Committal services will follow at 2:30 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 11 AM until the time of the funeral at 1 PM on Tuesday December 30. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Robert Simpson Memorial Fund c/o the family.
Robert was born May 21, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Richard Hubert Simpson Sr. and Frances Eleanor (Zann) Simpson. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a college graduate earning his PhD. He was married to Sandra Kay Lyons on October 6, 1984. He retired from General Motors and then after worked as an independent business consultant.
He loved the water and boating. He loved to talk to people and tell his stories. He enjoyed talking to young people he met, learning about their lives, and encouraging them to further their education. He was a life member of the Fenton VFW Post 3243.
Surviving are: his wife of 41 years, Sandy; children, Robert Craig Simpson Jr., Julie Ann (Dan) Rudy; grandchildren, Shannon (Brett) Frieze, Savannah Simpson, Sean Simpson, Sawyer Simpson; sister Mary (Ted) Williams; and nieces and nephews, Jan, Mark, Amy and Jeff; and his faithful companion their dog Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Richard Hubert Simpson Jr.; and daughter Kelly Lyons.
