Robert Patrick Smart, 46, of Windham, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2025.
Robert was born in Portland, Maine, to Robert A. Smart and Teresa A. Zsiga Smart. He grew up surrounded by family and lifelong memories that shaped the devoted husband, father, “bro”, brother, and friend he became.
Rob is survived by his loving wife, Laura Smart, and his cherished children, Mckenna, Briley, and Hudson, whom he adored. He took great pride in being a father, especially to his only son, Hudson, and proudly referred to himself as “#1 Dad.”
Rob enjoyed many hobbies and interests, including tinkering with RC cars, gaming, and spending quality time with his family. His love for his children and his dedication to those closest to him were evident in everything he did.
He is also survived by his siblings: Jennifer Banker and her husband Dan, Tricia Brennan and her husband John, and Crystal Ward and her husband Jason. Rob was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews, Keegan, Clara, Emma, Nolan, and Jamison, all of whom he loved dearly.
Robert was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support, kindness, and love during this incredibly difficult time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe has been established to help support Laura and the children during this time of loss. Please search “Helping Laura and kids through this heartbreak time.” https://www.gofundme.com/f/helping-laura-and-kids-through-this-heartbreaking-time
