Robert Allen Smith, born on August 16, 1960, in Morton, Mississippi, passed away on February 24, 2026, in the same beloved town. A dedicated mechanic and bus driver for Scott County Schools for many years, Robert left an indelible mark on those he encountered through his work. His passion for all things automotive, coupled with his strong commitment to his community, defined both his professional and personal life.
A man of many interests, Robert took great joy in working on cars, fishing, and attending car shows. These hobbies brought him not only relaxation but also an opportunity to connect with friends and family who shared his enthusiasm for all things mechanical and adventurous.
Robert's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Sones Smith; his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Katie Smith; and his cherished granddaughters, Kinsley Smith and Lillie Smith. Their bonds held a special place in his heart and were the source of immense joy and fulfillment for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Audree Gibbons Smith; siblings, James Smith, Patricia Miller, Billie Gould, and Doris Smith; in-laws, James and Rebecca Sones; and nephew, Adam Gould. Robert's legacy will endure through the memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on February 26, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton, Mississippi. Additional visitation will take place on February 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kalem Community Cemetery, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the same location. Robert will be laid to rest at the Kalem Community Church Cemetery in Morton at 3:00 PM.
As we remember Robert Allen Smith, we cherish the life he lived, the family he adored, and the myriad ways he enriched the lives of those around him. His memory will forever remain a guiding light to those he leaves behind.
