Robert "Bob" Gene Snider, 79, of Elwood, Indiana and formerly of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He was born on April 8, 1946 in Batesville, Indiana to Robert Stanley Snider and Alta Mae (Vollmer) Snider.
Bob was a proud graduate of Anderson High School, Class of '64. After school, he dedicated his career as an Engineer for Delco-Remy a Division of General Motors in Anderson, but his true passion lay in the skies. For 55 years, Bob lived his dream as a pilot and flight instructor, becoming well-known in Madison and Delaware County for igniting a love of aviation in young people. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he spent 12 wonderful years with Young Eagles, encouraging kids to spread their wings and take flight.
Beyond the cockpit, Bob was a member of several aviation organizations, including the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the Antique Aircraft Association. After retirement, he began his "fun job" of ferrying airplanes across the United States for Indy Air Sales at the Anderson Regional Airport. His ability to connect with others meant he never met a stranger, and his stories from around the world could fill a book.
Family was everything to Bob. He is survived by his sister, children, step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving friends both near and far.
Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Ruth (Crandall) Snider.
