On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Robert "Bob" Lee Stanford, age 67, left this earthly world and entered into his glorious heavenly home where he is now at eternal peace and rest.
Bob was born April 15, 1957, to the late Went Stanford and the late Eva Lee Brookshire Stanford. He had made his home in Haywood County all of his life and he carried wonderful memories of growing up surrounded by a loving family. For 14 dedicated years, he worked at Haywood Builders in Waynesville where he was known as "Odie" and where he made many friendships that have lasted a lifetime. He also was employed with The Town of Waynesville, Recreation Center until his well-deserved retirement.
Bob was a friend to everyone, never meeting a stranger and always ready to lend a helping hand. His generosity knew no bounds; if someone had needed the shirt off his back, Bob would have given it without a second thought. He delighted in the simple pleasures of life- being outdoors, going fishing, spending time with his family and great fun times of going to the car races. His heart was always full of joy and great pride watching his grandson play baseball and soccer- Bob was always there cheering him on from the sidelines.
A man of the Baptist faith, he was always an example of comfort and strength to those around him. He will forever be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and special friend.
Bob's heart of gold and his true kindness to others will forever be an example to those who were blessed to know him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived and the true example of "good man." He will be deeply missed forever.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Stanford, his sisters, Ann Camby and Donna Head; and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Head and Walt Caldwell.
Surviving are his son, Steven Stanford (Crystal) of Waynesville; his daughter, Leanna Stanford of High Point; a grandson, Dawson Ferguson; a brother, Danny Stanford (Marie) of Canton; a sister, Cathy Caldwell of Waynesville; his loving partner, Kathy Mitchell of Waynesville; a brother-in-law, Martin Camby of Canton; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and also great-great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Stanford will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 1, 2025 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Jimmy Trantham will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Crawford / Ray Funeral Home is deeply honored to be caring for the Stanford family.

Bob and Kathy were my tenants for years. I always enjoyed our visits when Bob came in. He would update me on Kathy's health, he was so kind and soft spoken. I was truly sad when they moved. Kathy, I'm so sorry for loss. I know he was your rock. I love you both.
