Robert "Maggilla" Starrett, age 77, of Belvidere (White Township), died Sunday, September 28, 2025, at JFK University Hospital in Edison, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born on October 2, 1947, in Newark, NJ, to the late Neil J Starrett and Alice C (Courter) Pusey. He was the oldest of four children, Richard and Neil Starrett, and Edward Hosking, all of whom have predeceased.

Robert grew up on the family farm in Flanders, NJ. He graduated from West Morris Regional High School, where he played football. Robert was a long-running Giants football fan who chided family members who liked the opposing team.

He enlisted in the Army and served proudly in the Engineer Heavy Equipment branch of the Rapid Deployment Force, also known as the Rapid Military Personnel Movement Network, while stationed in Vietnam. He was presented with various commendations and medals in recognition of his service during the war. He worked for Jerry Jones' Mack for fourteen years as the lead diesel engine mechanic before starting his own business, Starrett and Son.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Ginger (Banghart) Starrett; five children: Troy M. Starrett (Kristen), Alicia C. Starrett-Seidel (Brian), Kelly L. Mulraney (Scott), Christopher Sutton, and Robert Sutton. Four grandchildren: Kailee Starrett, Ian Mulraney, Ashlyn Sutton, and Sierra Sutton.

He enjoyed family and friend gatherings filled with laughter, good stories, and was always the first with a well-timed joke or tall tale. Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ginger, on their many adventures, and, once retired, he would often spend his time puttering around in his garage. He had a love of country, a great respect for military service, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need; his family and friends will deeply miss him.
