Robert "Bob" Arlen Stroud, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on December 27, 2022, at the age of 85. He was a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, born on November 26, 1937 to his loving parents, the late Dollie Lucille Stroud and Grover Cleveland Stroud. Bob is the beloved husband of 57 years to Mary Erin Coye Stroud; cherished father of Shannon Stroud Dowden (William R. Dowden) and Robert Arlen Stroud II (Katie Stroud); proud grandfather of Matthew Stroud Corey (Jessica Corey), William Roger Dowden II, Jacob Alexander Dowden, Mary Elizabeth Dowden, Sydney Erin Stroud, and Sophie Anne Stroud; great-grandfather of Olivia Marlene Corey and Alice Erin Corey; and treasured brother of Johnnie Matherne, Mary Elizabeth Williams, Grover Charles Stroud, and Dollie Ruth Del Greco. He is also survived by a host of extended family members and friends.
Bob graduated from Marion High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana with the Class of 1954 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Louisiana State University with the Class of 1956. He bravely served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Bob was formerly employed with Medical Equipment Company, Inc., Clinical Services, Inc., and New England Pre-School Academy. He was an active parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell and a member of the International Camellia Society, the American Camellia Society, the Ozone Camellia Club, the Gulf Coast Camellia Club, the New Orleans Camellia Club, and the Knights Templar. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A prayer service will begin in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Bob will be laid to rest in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
