Robert E. “Bob” Talbert, 90, of Covington IN, passed away 6:28 AM Friday January 3, 2025 at the Waters in Covington.
Bob was born March 21, 1934 in Danville, IL, the son of Earl E. and Pearl B. (McMillan) Talbert. He married Sophia A. Ricketts September 16, 1958 in Danville, IL.
Surviving family include his wife, Sophia A. Talbert, Covington; two daughters Trina M Wise, Covington; Claudia A (Jim) Jones, West Lebanon; a son Donald W. (Lorie) Talbert, Greencastle; a sister Audrey (Jim) Roderick, State Line, IN; eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Wise, Stephanie (Brandan) O’Neal, Craig (Krista) Jones, Cara (Josh) Jones Saini, Nicholas Talbert, Morgan Talbert, Cynthia Talbert, Courtney Talbert, two step grandchildren Jessica (Jason) Cochran, Hannah (Blake) Knowling, eight great-grandchildren, Ethan Wise, Deven Wise, Zach Wise, Landon O’Neal, Sophia O’Neal, Autumn Jones, Keith Jones, Jay-Lin Thompkins, five step great-grandchildren, Rhett & Ruthie Cochran; Jaiden, Madi & Charlie Knowling; a special daughter, Mitzi Barnes; and a special fur grand dog Tillie Mae. .
He is preceded in death by a son Kenny E. Talbert; his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Bob graduated from Covington High School in 1952, and served his country in the US Army. He was employed at the Covington Post Office for 26 years; and continued to drive the mail truck for several years after his retirement.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Saturday January 4, 2025 at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com
