Robert J Thuesen "Bob" Bob Thuesen, 77, passed away on October 29, 2025, after a gallant fight to beat cancer. His family was at his side, throughout, to give their love and support on this rocky journey. Bob was born to Roger and Cecelia Thuesen on August 7, 1948, in Billings Montana. He attended school there graduating from Billings West High in 1966. While there he earned a full ride scholarship to attend Stanford University. After a year away he returned to Montana to marry the love of his life, Pat Martin, on September 21, 1968. Bob continued his education by attending Montana State University, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. After college, Bob decided to serve his country, and he joined the United States Air Force. He was commissioned to be a Navigator on KC135 refueling Strato tankers, which turned out to be something he loved. He was stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota for his entire career; a place where Bob, his wife and two daughters had great friends and so many good memories! Living in North Dakota kept them close to their families in Montana and they cherished the many times they could go and spend time with them.

After being promoted to Captain and doing 7 years at Minot Air Force Base, Bob decided it was time to move on to his next adventure in life. He was honorably discharged in 1978. That led him to accepting a job offer with Peter Kiewit in Sheridan Wyoming. Not knowing it at this time, Sheridan was a place that would shape their lives forever! Bob became Chief Engineer at Decker Coal, then a stint at Black Butte in Rock Springs, back to Sheridan Wyoming, and then working on the China project in Omaha Nebraska for about 8 months. The end of that project led them back to their beloved Sheridan Wyoming! Bob retired in 1998 after 20 years with Peter Kiewit. Being only 50 years old and in good health Bob had another lifetime of adventures ahead of him. He did a few years of true retirement and then the adventures began. First, was an 8 year stint as a wilderness ranger in the Cloud Peak Wilderness. With his love of the Big Horn Mountains and of backpacking/hiking he was in his element. To use his words "They pay me to do what I love"!

Next adventure, a cherished 12 years as a big game hunting guide with Triple Three Outfitters out of Buffalo Wyoming. Being an avid hunter himself Bob liked more than anything to share the thrill of the hunt with others. Spending time at camp with Craig Smith, Phil Rutt, Beto, the other guides and hunters just made Bob's day. Again, to use Bob's words "They pay me to do what I love!" Being an engineer, Bob loved numbers! So the last job he took on was working as a tax preparer…just to fill a few of those winter days in February and March.

Bob is survived by his wife Pat, his daughters Jeanette (Tim) grandchildren Josh, Jacey and great granddaughter Scarlette; Janelle (Chad); his brothers Ron (Vicki) Thuesen of Missoula Montana; Rich (Carole) Thuesen of Polson Montana; Russ (Linda) Thuesen of Billings Montana, and sister Diane (Curtis) Harper of Mills Wyoming; numerous nieces and nephews as well as so many many great friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Donna. Bob's life was Pat, the Big Horn Mountains and the great outdoors! They shared their love of backpacking, hiking, bow hunting, x country skiing, and snowshoeing. Keep on trekking Bob/Dad… we love and miss you.

A open house will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 3:00 P.M.to 5:00 P.M. in the Champion Kane Funeral Home Reception Hall for family and friends to gather and share cherished memories of Robert Thuesen.

A Service to Honor the Life of Robert John Thuesen will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, WY. Immediately following a reception will take place in the Holy Name Catholic Church Reception Hall.
