Robert Rudolph Tiura, affectionately known as Bob, a beloved husband, father, and friend to many, was born on January 28, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, and he passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2025, in Royal Oak, Michigan, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob's early years were in Southfield. His passion for learning led him to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering at Michigan Technological University.
Upon graduation and for 34 years, Bob served as a Civil Engineer for the Michigan Department of Transportation. He worked in the Detroit District and contributed to the construction of several freeways, including the completion of I-696.
Bob's love for his family was evident to all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Tiura; his children, James and Angela (Jacques) Tiura, and Lauren and Jeff Tarkiewicz, and his beloved grandchildren, Annika, Isaac, Samuel, and Leo.
An avid golfer, Bob could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game he loved. He spent his winters in Bonita Springs, Florida after his retirement to continue perfecting his game. His enthusiasm for golf was matched only by his passion for Detroit sports teams, a fervor that brought him both joy and heartache in equal measure.
Bob's ability to face challenges with a level head and his loyalty to his friends and the causes he believed in will be cherished by those who knew him well.
