Passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Age 88.
Gilbert was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 30, 1937, the son of the late Floyd and Eleanor Sauve. He graduated from St. Andrew High School in Saginaw. He attended Michigan Technological University, receiving his degree in Engineering. He worked for Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a former member of St. Thomas Aquanis Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing Bridge with his friends and was a Life Master through the American Contract Bridge League.
He is survived by his children Mark (Kristi) Sauve and Linda (Robert) Leaym, and former wife Janet Rank; two grandchildren, Zachary Sauve and Kortney Sauve; one sister Connie Reed; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Sauve and Timothy Sauve.
Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held later. Arrangements were entrusted to W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603.
