Martha Sauve

Martha Ann Sauve, 89, passed away, September 30, 2025, in her hometown, of Mt. Vernon, IN. Her legacy of love, giving, and unwavering dedication to her family and close friends, will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Martha was born December 31, 1935, to William and Mildred (Cox) Walker, in Evansville, IN. She was a 1954 graduate of Memorial High School. A devoted wife, Martha was married to George Sauve, for 46 years before his death in 2003. Her professional career included working for Dr. Raibley's Dental Office for 7 years and later retiring in 2000 after 18 years with the Posey County Prosecutor's Office.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; and sister, Jane Working.

Martha is survived by her sons, Steven Sauve (Julie) of Burnsville, MN and Shelby Sauve (Jeri) of New Harmony. She had 4 grandchildren whom she adored, Rose Sauve, Maizee Goebel (Brian), Jacob Sauve and Levon Sauve (Tabitha). In addition, 2 great-grandsons who thought she was the, "Best little Grandma in the world!", Hayden Goebel and Sawyer Goebel. Her extended family included, Kari Elpers, Cooper Fuquay, and Eleanor Elpers; her brother, Ben Walker (Wilma); as well as additional nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Fr. Ted Temple officiating and burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm service time on Monday at the funeral home.
