Robert Urban Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home - Manville on Oct. 21, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Robert J. "Rob" Urban, age 84, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, New Jersey. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, son of the late John and Helen (nee Glembocki) Urban, Rob was a lifelong resident of Manville, New Jersey.

After graduation from Manville High School and Rider University, Rob went on to honorably and faithfully serve his country with the United States Army as a specialist 4. During that time from 1962 to 1964 he became chief of traffic control and was also recruited by the Federal Bureau of Investigations to come work with them. But as a "mathematical genius," as proclaimed by his brother, David, he went on to follow his dreams in the accounting field. Rob dedicated 30 years of his career as a senior accountant with the Johns Manville Corporation formerly of Manville. He received several awards from the Accounting Organization he was a member of.

While active in his career, he would help support his family. He was so generous that he helped his brother pay for his education at Rider and would not allow him to pay him back. Following his retirement, Rob enjoyed time spent with his dear brother. Rob was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish in Manville. He took great pleasure in reading mathematical books. He also enjoyed watching and rooting for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team and the New York Yankees.

In addition to his parents, Rob was predeceased by his brother, John Urban, Jr., on March 30, 1997.

Robert is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving brother, David Urban of Manville; and cherished cousin, Lorraine Muscki.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, located at 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. and on Saturday, October 25 from 8-8:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25 beginning at the funeral home with transfer prayers at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral mass at Christ the Redeemer Parish in Manville. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
