Robert Vanaman Obituary
Robert Frederick Vanaman, 85, of Lillington, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Robert was born in Millville, New Jersey, to the late Robert Brown Vanaman and Martha Spitzner Vanaman. The son of an Army officer, Robert and his family moved often and eventually settled in Fayetteville, NC. Robert attended NC State University before joining the US Navy Air Forces. Following the military, he began his career in restaurant management before moving over to automobile sales and management. He believed in working hard and never truly retired.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11 am at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Robert is survived by wife, Olga; daughter, Michelle Collins and husband, Chip, of Hope Mills; two grandchildren, Cameron and Caitlyn; sister, Ann Vanaman Taylor and husband, Lacy, of Lillington; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of one’s choice.
