Robert Visser Obituary

Robert W. Visser died on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 87.

Bob was born in Lynden, Washington on May 28, 1938. He attended Laurelwood Academy and graduated from Walla Walla College. Robert was drafted and served two years in the White Coats. He spent the first years of his career working in finance for nursing home chains before moving on to a Management Analyst position at the Department of Health and Human Services. He married Rhonda Smith in August 1968 and became an instant dad to her five-year-old daughter, Sherry. Shana joined the family in 1972.

Bob was active in his church, where he chaired the Finance Committee and the Church Board, served as a hospitality team leader, and was an active member of his Sabbath School class. He enjoyed camping, hiking, waterskiing, reading, photography, and in-depth conversations on many subjects. He was very close with his two daughters, and "Papa" played a major role in the lives of his four grandchildren. His family and friends will miss his gentle understanding and good humor.

He is survived by Rhonda, his wife of 57 years, his two daughters, Sherry Lynn Hoover and Shana Leigh Walden, his son-in-law, Jeff Hoover, and his four grandchildren-Chase and Drew Hoover and Noah and Seth Walden.

The family plans to hold a celebration of life service in October.
