Robert Vitacco, 82 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Centra State Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Thursday, January 15, 1942 in New York, New York, Robert was the son of the late John and Mary Vitacco.
Robert would meet the love of his life, Elizabeth Delatang when they were both teenagers in the West Village. The couple would eventually marry. After living in Brooklyn for a short time they settled in Old Bridge to raise a family..
Robert played football for St. Anthony's Church in New York. After completing his education, he and a few friends joined the Army Reserves. After serving his country in the Army, Robert started his lifelong career as a Longshoreman at Howland Hook Marine Terminal. After 51 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2013 at the age of 71.
Robert loved spending time vacationing with his family in Upstate New York. He coached his son's Little League teams for many years, taking them to a few championships. He loved dressing up and playing Santa Claus at Christmas and handing out all the presents to his grandchildren. They will cherish this memory forever.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Betty; his three children, Bob and Carol Vitacco of Sayreville, NJ, John and Pamela Vitacco of Monroe Township, NJ, and Michele Burns of Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Sean Kryzkowski and his wife Brielle, Amanda Vitacco and her partner Matthew Bruno, Kai Tyler, Jason Vitacco and his fiancé Jaime, and Ashley Vitacco and his sister in law Deborah and her husband Joe Siano and many family and friends who will miss him terribly.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
A Funeral prayer service will begin at 4:30 PM on Sunday at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service located at 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857.
