CLEARWATER, FL - Robert "Bob" Weaver, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28th, 2025 in Clearwater, FL, surrounded by his son and loving family. Bob was born on July 1st, 1937, in Indianapolis, IN, to Carl and Sarah Weaver. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and began his college studies at Hanover College, later completing his degree at Indiana Central College. Bob dedicated 42 years of his career to Eli Lilly, where he worked as a toxicologist, becoming head of the department. He was respected and beloved by colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends. Bob was a fixture at the company gym, famously holding his own in full-court basketball games with much younger coworkers, well into his 60s. He had two children with his first wife, Eloise Gill, and moved to Greenfield while the kids were in middle school. A devoted father, Bob could always be found cheering on the sidelines or coaching his son Kyle's sports teams. Kyle recalls that no matter where the family moved, the first priority was installing a regulation hoop and concrete court. Bob's step-daughter, Katrina, also received plenty of basketball tips, playing countless games of horse and one-on-one with him in the driveway. Bob's niece, Martha, was more like a daughter, even living with them when she was young and later Bob walked her down the aisle. Bob was an avid golfer as well, collecting numerous awards and lifelong friends over the years. He enjoyed passing his love of the game on to his grandkids, and they hit the links together often. His competitive spirit was matched only by the joy he experienced cheering on his kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren in whatever interests they pursued. After Bob's mom had a stroke, he cared for her for 24 years and took his family to see her every Sunday, without fail. On February 12, 1984, Bob married the love of his life, Caroline "Sis" Anderson. Their 37 years together were full of joy, dancing, and deep devotion. Watching Bob and Sis jitterbug together was a sight to behold - graceful and effortless. When Sis was diagnosed with MS, Bob's love and care only deepened. He became her steadfast caregiver, a role he embraced with grace, tenderness, and unwavering loyalty. It's no surprise Sis's father affectionately dubbed him "Saint Bob." Bob loved Sis's big, crazy family and their never-ending laughter. He enjoyed numerous vacations with Jimmy and Patti and loved all of Sis's seven siblings, their spouses, and a great multitude of nieces and nephews. In return, they all loved "Bobby." Bob enjoyed the last four years of his life in Florida with his son, Kyle, daughter-in-law, Jeanna, and their children. He spent many hours in the pool, had lunches with Karla, cheered for Amy onstage, and attended the Rays games with grandson, Kyle. It was a true blessing for his kids and grandkids to have him there. He instantly became "Papa Bob" to the four little ones across the street. He lit up when they came through the door and enjoyed going to their basketball and soccer games. Visits from Katrina, Julie, and their pups were a highlight of Florida life, too. Bob had a quiet strength and a big heart. He was kind, humble, generous, a great listener, and the best napper in history. He had a wonderfully goofy sense of humor and never passed up the chance to crack a joke-the cornier, the better. His faith was central to his life, and he always enjoyed a good Bible study. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and quiet impact-on his family, his friends, his colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob is survived by his children, Kyle (Jeanna) Weaver, Karla Weaver, Kevin Smith, and Katrina (Julie Gallutia) Willis; nine grandchildren, Amber List, Anderson Smith, Amy Weaver, Kyle Weaver, Samuel Willis, Augustus Willis, Mary Claire Willis, George Willis, and Laura Adass; two great grandchildren, Jocelynn "Jocey" List and RJ Adass; and a niece, Martha (Bruce) Dych. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Carl and Sarah Weaver; siblings, Bessy Lee Weaver, Charles Weaver, and James Weaver; his beloved wife, Caroline Weaver, and his step-daughter, Carrie Smith. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Yesterday

I worked with Bob for many years and also knew Sis and some of her family. Bob was one of The Good Guys, it was an honor to call him a friend.
