Dr. Robert David Weber, of Newtown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old.
Born on October 4, 1942, in
Trenton, New Jersey, Bob was the son of the late John and Catherine (Koper) Weber. He grew up in Trenton and graduated from Trenton Catholic Boys School in 1960. Determined and hardworking, he put himself through college by holding multiple jobs, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Trenton State College (TSC) in 1964 and a Master's degree in 1965. While at TSC, Bob met his future wife, Linda (Sattler) Weber, and the two were married in 1966, building a lasting partnership together. Continuing his academic endeavors, Bob went on to pursue his doctorate at The Ohio State University, receiving his Ph.D. in 1971.
Bob and Linda returned to New Jersey the same year and raised their two children, Robert David Weber II and Jody Lyn Weber, in Ewing and later Lawrenceville. Bob was endlessly proud of his children– of their accomplishments, their families, and the lives they built. He cherished the simple moments, like Rob stopping by to share a beer and conversation. He also loved that Jody and his granddaughter lived with them and that he got to see them every day.
Dr. Weber devoted his entire professional career to education. He served as a professor in the College of Engineering at Trenton State College, later renamed The College of New Jersey, (TCNJ), where he taught courses including Power and Energy, Woodworking, Robotics, Technology for Children and Professional Studies. He played a pivotal role in transitioning the college's program to technology education, representing the Council for Technology Teacher Education (CTTE) and eventually chairing the Commission on Technology Education for the State of New Jersey (COTE). In addition, Bob coordinated the graduate program, chaired the Department of Technology Education, and served as advisor to both TECA (Technology Education Collegiate Association) students and the Phi Alpha Delta industrial arts fraternity. He especially enjoyed teaching Alternative Energy courses and Collegebound Summer Programs at the Mohican Outdoor Resource Center through a NJ state grant.
Bob was particularly proud of serving as the director of the TCNJ Regional Center for the $10 million New Jersey Statewide Systemic Initiative (SSI) from 1993 to 2005, a program dedicated to improving the teaching of math, science, and technology across the state of New Jersey. Highly accomplished and deeply admired, he influenced countless colleagues and students- many of whom remained lifelong friends.
After 36 years of teaching, Dr. Weber retired in 2005. His retirement was filled with many activities. In addition to supervising student teachers, he continued his passion for woodworking, creating a custom entertainment center and coffee table for the family home, custom picture frames for Rob & his wife Allison, a built-in closet and Little Free Library for Jody, and a walnut cradle which was used by his grandchildren. Bob was always tinkering, fixing, and improving things, and he took pride in caring for the family's 10-acre property.
Bob enjoyed playing tennis with his group "The Top Spinners," and canoeing and fishing with his canoe group "The J Strokers," made up of colleagues and former students. He loved traveling with his family, gardening, exercising, cooking, and above all, spending time with his five beloved grandchildren. Bob delighted in watching his grandsons Colin, Cameron, Quinton, and Dustin play soccer, baseball and run track. He often enlisted them to help with projects around his property, creating cherished family stories. In addition, he treasured his mornings with his granddaughter Kensington, walking her to the bus stop and sharing that daily ritual for the past few years.
Bob was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen (Weber) Hill. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda; his son Rob and wife Allison; his daughter Jody; his grandchildren Colin, Cameron, Quinton, Dustin, and Kensington; his brother John Weber (Peg); his sister-in-law Nancy (Sattler) Franchino (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, January 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM until Bob's memorial service begins at 11:30 AM at Campbell and Thomas Funeral Home | 905 Second Street Pike |
Richboro, PA 18954.
