Robert G. Westfall

Robert G. Westfall aka "SOB" Sweet ole Bob and "Hammer", 75, of Fife Lake passed away October 29, 2024 at his home. Bob was born on April 2, 1949 in Flint, MI to the late Brewster and Thelma (Goyette) Westfall. Bob is survived by his beautiful wife of 52 years Debora (Frakes) Westfall of Montrose, MI. Their daughters Danielle Westfall-Nagy and husband Jonn Nagy, Nina (Westfall) Cotton and her husband Doug Cotton, four grandchildren Sheyenne & Cameron Nagy, Olivia and Lane Cotton. He is survived by his older brother Bruce Westfall, his brother in law and sister in law Dean and Sue Frakes and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Fenton High school, later completing training for drafting in preparation for working at GM. Bob was drafted into the Army in 1969 and was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was a proud veteran often wearing his jump wings on many a hat over the years. After getting married they moved north and he worked for Dowell Schlumberger. He was a service supervisor, where he made many lifelong friends.
To know Bob was to love him. In classic Westfall style, you could hear him enter a room before you ever saw him, with his big booming voice. His big smile brightened any room and his amazing hugs brought comfort and kindness to many. He was a fisherman who loved being on the water. He spent his retirement in his boat or on his side by side making the rounds visiting the neighbors. Even while working a 24 hour on call job in the middle of Michigan's oil boom he found ways to never miss a game, holiday or special event for his kids and grandkids. Sitting in the stands in his spike it hat was common place for him. He was an amazing dad, grandpa and husband. Words cannot convey how much he will be missed.
