Robert Westfield Obituary

Robert Hewlett Westfield

Robert Hewlett Westfield (Bob) passed away April 4, 2023, at the age of 85, at his home in Tulsa. He was born on April 26, 1937, at Morningside Hospital (Hillcrest) to parents, George William (Bill) and Evelyn Della Westfield. He attended Longfellow grade school, Horace Mann Junior High and graduated from Central High School's Class of 1955. Bob attended the University of Oklahoma, where he pledged and became a member of Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity, participated in intramural wrestling and boxing, and was on the Dean's Honor Roll. While at OU his first major was Geology but due to red and green color blindness, he switched majors to Business Administration. Bob returned to Tulsa and completed his BSBA degree at the University of Tulsa and was a lifelong fan of the university and its sports teams.

Bob began an industrial sales career with Grant Supply Company where he distributed and sold piping materials used for oil, gas, and chemical related industries. During this time, he was also a member of the Air National Guard where he worked in procurement and was honorably discharged in 1967. Bob spent 23 years at Grant Supply working his way up from warehouse employee to President and COO. In 1986, Bob along with five partners, formed a new pipe distribution company named Industrial Piping Specialists, Inc (IPS) where he served as President and CE0. He and his partners, along with his wife, Jeannie, and numerous dedicated employees, grew IPS to 16 locations throughout the central part of the United States. Bob's passion for the distribution business would often have him spending countless hours analyzing inventory data and business strategy to maintain a competitive advantage. He continued an active role in the company until 2014 when his Parkinson's Disease became too debilitating.

Bob was an avid numismatist, car enthusiast, card player and St. Louis Cardinal fan but mostly he and his wife Jeannie enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, watching them grow into young adults. His warm personality and dry sense of humor will always be remembered as well as his overriding concern for the wellbeing of his employees and their families. Bob was preceded in death by his older brother, Billy who passed away at age 7; and his parents, George and Evelyn Westfield. Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeannie Stanley Westfield. He is also survived by three children he shares with his first wife, Jackie Westfield, Evan Hunt (Dan), and Ty Westfield (Anne), all of Tulsa and Matt Westfield of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Phillips and Spencer Hunt, Hannah, Beau (Melissa), and Gracie Westfield, Evelyn and Miller Westfield; and one great-grandchild, Vivienne Blake Westfield.

A visitation will be held from 12-6 p.m., on Wednesday, April 12, at Stanley's Funeral Home and the family will be present to receive friends from 4-6 p.m. A Private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 13, at Christ United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those that wish to make a donation to the Shriners Children's Hospital. www.stanleysfuneralhome.com

I'm a server in Charter Oaks dining room. Mr & Mrs Westfield came in Mon - Fri at 11:15 he'd have a couple of cup's of coffee & a cup of soup. They became a constant for me, if they weren't there at 11:15 I would become worried. My heart goes out to Mrs Westfield!

Im Salina and I was one of Bobs caregivers for more than a year right up until he went into skilled nursing. He was so kind and I enjoyed being with him so much! I enjoyed watching baseball games with him and I loved taking care of him so much! We laughed a lot and got through some of his toughest days together but always ended with love, smiles and prayers. I love him so much and already miss him terribly. I look forward to seeing him again one day where there´s no more suffering. Jeanne I´m praying for you and the family. Much love to you - Salina Talla
