Robert was born on May 19th, 1939 and passed away on
April 10th, 2025 at the age of 85It is with a sense of joy for a life well-lived, not without a fair share of mischief, that we bid farewell to Robert W. Whitehouse, known to many as Grandpa Bob, Uncle Bob, Scoutmaster Bob, Fisherman Bob, Trapper Bob, or simply Bob, we were never really sure what his middle name was.
Robert was born on May 19, 1939, in Tooele, Utah, and received his final wish by passing away peacefully in the same home he was born in, on Thursday, April 10, 2025. A funny, loving, adventurous, and loyal man, Bob spent his years in Tooele with aplomb and zest. A master mechanic by trade, Bob worked at the Tooele Army Depot, tinkering with machines and people's hearts alike. He loved the great outdoors and was an ardent angler, a skilled hunter, and a daring desert racer.
Bob spent many years as a mentor and scout leader for the boy scouts. He had a vast knowledge of Tooele County and the West Desert and loved to share stories with anyone he visited with about his experiences. One of his favorite places in the spring was the foothills of the west desert when the wildflowers were in bloom and in the fall, scouring pinion trees for his favorite treat, pine nuts.
He was also quite a prankster; his family will undoubtedly miss his playful antics and infectious laughter. Bob spent his later years sitting on the front porch watching passersby on the sidewalk trying to collect the handful of quarters he had glued down. Allegedly he was reprimanded during his time as a school bus driver as he handed out squirt guns to all the kids offloading his bus on the last day of school, or for letting a student practice their school bus driving skills on the back roads of Rush Valley.
Bob was a man of many talents, but his family was his greatest achievement. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was unparalleled. His favorite pastime was teasing them and playing board games with his great-grandchildren, Shayleigh and Jaxsen. The twinkle in his eyes as he crafted with his grandchildren was a sight to behold. Bob was also a man of faith, devoutly serving The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various capacities over the years. His commitment to his faith was encapsulated in Moroni 7:47, "But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him." His love for family, faith, and fun will forever live in our hearts.
Bob is survived by his children Scott (Jackie) Whitehouse, Dean (Michelle) Whitehouse, Ryan (Christy) Whitehouse, Jennifer (John) Allen, Mike (Stacy) Woodward, and Kim (Jeremy) Hale. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of many years, Reeda Whitehouse, his parents Stanley and Alice Whitehouse, and a granddaughter Makayla Shinton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 9:30-10:45am at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah. A graveside service will follow at 11:00am at Tooele City Cemetery, 361 South 100 East, Tooele, Utah.
Let us carry Bob's spirit of love, adventure, and fun in our hearts. We invite all who knew and loved Bob to share their memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. As he often said, "The best thing about memories is making them." Let's honor his memory by sharing and cherishing the wonderful moments we had with him.

I will always be grateful to Bob for being a great neighbor. When I first moved to Tooele, he was very kind and I enjoyed our talks. We were really touched he came to our wedding. I have really missed his waves from the porch. I´m glad I was fortunate to know him. He´s chuckle always made me happy. Thanks for being my friend Bob!

Bob was a very kind person. When we first moved to Tooele, Bob and a few other neighbors would plow our driveway. My boys enjoyed scouts with Bob. He was a great guy. I appreciated all the services he did for me and my family. Rest in peace Bob.
