Robert F. Widmer

Robert F. Widmer age 77 passed away on June 21st at Mount Carmel East in Columbus, Ohio. He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie Widmer. They shared 54 loving years of marriage together. 

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Frederick and Regina. He attended and graduated from Aviation High School in Long Island City, NY. He worked for many years at Pan American Airlines as an Aircraft Mechanic. Later in life, he enjoyed working at the Columbus Museum of Art as a security guard.

He was a huge sports fan who enjoyed baseball almost as much as he enjoyed life. He grew up rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He later became a loyal New York Mets fan. His love of baseball led to many years of coaching in the East Meadow Little League. He will be remembered fondly for his love of family, his storytelling, and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Rosemarie, his daughter Laura Finnell of Oakdale, PA (Jerry Finnell), his son Kevin Widmer (Peggy Nida) of Pickerington, OH and his grandchildren, Sara Finnell, Jacob Widmer, and Zach Widmer. Step-grandchildren Johnny Finnell of Pittsburgh PA ( Missy Finnell ) , Kristi McCabe of Clinton PA ( Ed McCabe ) and step-great grandchild Erik McCabe. He was preceded in death by his parents.
