Robert L. Willard, age 72 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at St. Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas. Born Wednesday, September 17, 1941 in Higginsville, he was the son of the late Georgie Lee Willard and the late Doris Jean (Clark) Willard. Robert worked as Senior Underwriter for Commercial Union Insurance Company until he retired in 1994. He lived in St. Louis, Missouri until returning to Higginsville in 1996. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville. His favorite hobby was reading books. He was a graduate of the Higginsville High School class of 1959. Then received a BS degree from Central Missouri State College. Surviving are step-mother, Kay Weymer of British Columbia, Canada; three brothers; Mike (Della) Weymer and Frank (Kathy) Weymer both of British Columbia, Canada, Charles (Lorie) Weymer of Alberta, Canada; three sisters; Toleta Jean (Dan) Potter of Kansas City, Missouri, Grace (Lawrence) Dyck and Sharon Weymer Murphy both of British Columbia, Canada. A Graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Higginsville City Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Tommy L. Faris officiating. Interment will follow.
