Robert J. "Bob" Wilson

RICHMOND, Ind. - Robert "Bob" Joseph Wilson, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, November 11, 2024, at Reid Health. Born January 25, 1936, in Medford, Indiana, to William Howard and Helen M. Hunt Wilson. Bob, a resident of Richmond since 1962, was a dedicated educator. He graduated from Center High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Social Studies and a Master's in English from Ball State University. Bob's teaching career spanned over 40 years, covering junior high, high school, night school, summer school, and college classes. He shared his knowledge at Lynn High School, Test Junior High School, IU East University, and Richmond High School until his retirement in 2000. After retirement from teaching he then worked at Wetzel Automotive many years.
He and Behi were educational sponsors for Richmond High School students who took educational trips over Spring Break to multiple countries in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand (1986 - 2000). They were also a host family for students from Italy and France.
Bob was devoted to St. Paul's Episcopal Church for over 60 years. Whether it was being on the vestry, working in the soup kitchen, or serving communion, his heart was in every gesture.
Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Wilson; son, Douglas (Shelly) Wilson; granddaughter, Angelina Pruter; sister, Melinda Wilson; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Benoush "Behi" Shaikh Mohandes Wilson; parents; infant daughter, Laura Sherien Wilson; sister, Julia Oliver; brother, Larry Wilson; niece, Ann Oliver; and nephew, Rodney Maze.
Celebration of Life for Robert "Bob" Joseph Wilson will be held in the spring of 2025.
Arrangements are handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
