Delia Joan Hays, age 95, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at Arbor Trace, surrounded by her family.

Born February 20, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, to Carroll and Nan Gartrell, Delia graduated from Jackson High School in Campbellstown, Ohio in 1948. She also attended Belmont High School in Dayton, Ohio. She worked at Belden and later at JC Penney in the Home Furnishing department.

Delia was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and the Richmond Senior Center. Her hobbies included cross stitching, and she created beautiful pieces for her family and friends. She also made amazing pottery pieces that have been passed down to family and friends. Delia was an avid line dancer for years and was in a group that performed at area events. While her husband "Gabby" was alive, they enjoyed dancing and playing cards with their friends.

Survivors include her children, Karolyn Edwards, Gary (Marty Jo) Hays, and Gregg (Cathy) Hays; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremey) Hays-Mussoni, Derek (Melissa) Hays, Krista Edwards, and Kelly Strain; great-grandchildren, Ava and Bella Mussoni, Lillian and Claire Hays, Quinton and Nathan Strain, and Katie Edwards

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold "Gabby" Hays, to whom she was married on March 12, 1949; parents; two brothers; and son-in-law, Richard Edwards.

There will be a private family visitation and funeral service for Delia Hays at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Help the Animals, Inc., PO Box 117, Richmond, IN 47375 or the charity of your choice.

The family would like to give special thanks to Tammy, Robin, and Tracy at Arbor Trace.
