Robert (Bob) "Hack" Lee Wilson, age 93, of
New Castle, PA, passed away peacefully the evening of March 2, 2026, at the Haven Convalescent Home.
Born Aug. 14, 1932, in
New Wilmington, PA, he was the son of the late Edgar and Agnes (Garrett) Wilson.
On Nov. 23, 1963, he married his beloved wife of 61 years, Esther (Dean) Wilson. She preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 2024.
Robert was a graduate of Union High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Bob was employed by Columbia Gas for 35 years, where he worked in several different capacities until his retirement in 1995.
Bob was a man of many talents. He took pride in his gardening, which he continued well into his late 80s. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, and telling stories about his childhood. Wherever he went, Bob could find someone who was related to someone he knew. Bob was also an avid photographer and always had a camera around his neck, ready to capture the moment. He and Esther loved traveling to inspect the level of the local creeks or to check on the colors of the trees in upstate New York in the fall. Together, they also took great pride in attending their grandchildren's events.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Vranjican of
New Castle, PA; two sisters, Virginia Wilson and June Wilson; two grandchildren, Susan (Ken) Forsythe of Masury, OH, and Tom (Valerie) Reese, Jr., of Grandville, MI; and four great-grandchildren, Camryn, Brennan, Taryn, and Elin.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
A private burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, where Bob will be laid to rest next to his wife.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to UPMC Jameson Place for their care and friendship to Bob, especially after the passing of Esther, and to The Haven Convalescent Home for the excellent care and compassion in Bob's final months.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.cunninghamfh.com.
