Robert Winkelman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Home - Plymouth Chapel on Feb. 24, 2026.
Robert Lee Winkelman, affectionately known by many as Bullwinkel, passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 74 in Argos, IN. Born on August 24, 1951, in Plymouth, IN, to the late Richard Winkelman and Shirley (Fillmore) Winkelman, Robert's spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A proud graduate of Oregon Davis High School's class of 1970, Robert promptly enlisted in the United States Army. After his service, he exhibited the epitome of the American work ethic, becoming a self-employed carpenter, a trade he devotedly practiced for over 50 years. Robert's industrious nature was notable; his passion for his work was not merely a job but a testament to his character.
Beyond his professional life, Robert, or "Bullwinkel" as he was lovingly called, cherished every moment with his family. He leaves behind a loving lineage, including his daughters, Bobbie Vanhulle and Jessica (Johnny) Groves; his sons, Richard Winkelman and Alexander Pranger; his adoring grandchildren, Breanna (Quentyn), Destinee (Kyle), Sherman, Sarah, Samantha, Johnny, Scott, Gabe, and Gideon; and his fifteen great-grandchildren, who were the sparkle in his eye. His memory will also be celebrated by his siblings, Linda Carpenter, Peggy (Jerry) Pulliam, David Amor, and Raymond Winkelman; He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Terry Amor and Michael Amor.
Rare were the moments when Robert wasn't found immersed in his work or spending precious time with his family. Yet, he did make time for other joys in life; he genuinely loved his canine companions throughout his years, with Pearl, Baby, and Tipper holding special places in his heart. Additionally, Robert relished the freedom and thrill of taking rides on his motorcycle, embracing the sense of adventure that the open road offered.
Bullwinkel was a man of many loves, but it is unequivocal that his love for his family, particularly his grandchildren, was incomparable. His infectious smile, hearty laugh, and the tales of his escapades will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Every beam he crafted, every nail he drove, and every life he touched stands as a testament to his strong, loving, and industrious nature.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 12-3 p.m. at The Lincoln Event Center, 15147 W Lincoln Hwy, Plymouth, IN 46563. A graveside service with full military honors will take place at Grovertown Cemetery on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Palmer Funeral Home – Plymouth Chapel is honored to be assisting the family with final arrangements.
