Robert Woods Obituary

The Essence of His Life On March 31, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia, Reverend Robert Edgar Woods, 86, a man of strong faith and great resilience, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord. Reverend Woods was born on July 18, 1938, in Anthony, Florida. He was the eldest child to the late Edgar Lewis Woods and Pernella Woods. Reverend Woods embraced Christ early in his life under the guidance of Elder Washington at the Church of God in Christ in Anthony, Florida. Reverend Woods was educated at Fessenden High School. Reverend Woods' military service began in 1956 when he joined the United States Army as an Airborne Soldier. Following his time in the military, he transitioned to a career as a long-distance truck driver. On December 29, 1978, Reverend Woods and Carrie Smith were joined in holy matrimony uniting their families with devotion and love. Over the years, he worked for National Trucking, Certified Grocers, and Mid Florida Trucking, ultimately retiring at the young age of 77. Reverend Woods was a deacon and later ordained as a minister at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Ft. McCoy, Florida., under the leadership of Reverend DJ Berry. Reverend Woods became a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Ocala Santos, Florida, where he served as a dedicated member and minister. He served as interim Pastor for the Second Bethlehem Association. In 2022, Reverend Woods and Mrs. Woods relocated to Smyrna, Georgia, to be nearer to their children. Shortly after arriving, they joined Greater Zion Hill Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia, and were under the guidance of the late Rev. Dr. Elijah Jones, Sr. and the current Pastor Reverend Ernest Stallings. Reverend Woods not only had a passion for serving the Lord, but also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: a good home-cooked soul food meal, watching Wrestling, Westerns, Tyler Perry Madea movies, talking about the Bible, trucking, collecting Hess trucks, ink pens, and above all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
