Robert Wright, 87, of Lake Wales, Florida passed away on August 16th, 2024, at the Lake Wales Wellness and Rehabilitation Center. Robert was born to William and Margaret Marks on September 3, 1936, in Cortland, NY, and was their only child. He graduated from Cincinnatus High School, and attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY where he earned a degree in Music Education. He was the minister of music at the Baptist Church in McGraw, NY for a period of time and was a beloved music teacher in the Cortland City School District for many years. He was a regular in the Old Timers Band in Cortland, as well as a member of the Bear Cat Jass Band in Syracuse. Bob was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan from childhood, and later switched his allegiance to the New York Mets. His knowledge of baseball statistics and history was amazing. After retiring from the Cortland Schools, he moved to Florida where he met and married Polly Whidden and they were married for forty years. He is survived by his wife Polly, four children: Cindy (Tim) Stogsdill of Camillus, Darren (Mary) Wright of Cortland, Elissa Wright of Cortland, and Glenn (Lisa) Wright of Chesapeake VA, his stepchildren Kaye (Barry) Hurt, Fred (Michele) Lastinger and Gary Lastinger, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Bob always remembered his many relatives and friends in the Cortland area and had a place in his heart for them. Burial was on August 21st in the New Zion Cemetery in Hardee County, Florida.
