With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Robyn Burger, who peacefully left us on December 6, 2024, at her home. Robyn's life was a testament to her deep passion for people, her dedication to law enforcement, and her unwavering love for her family.
Robyn was born on June 1, 1965, in Des Moines, IA, to Bob Burger and Cleonia Burger. From a young age, Robyn exhibited a compassionate heart and a strong desire to help others. She graduated from Saydel High School and pursued a career in law enforcement, where she made a significant impact with her unwavering commitment to justice and community service.
Throughout her distinguished career at the Sheriff's Office, Robyn held numerous roles and was an integral part of many teams, including: Deputy, Corporal, Detective, Desk Sergeant, Field Training Officer, Cell Extraction Response Team, Disaster Emergency Response Team, Crime Scene Response Team, Crisis Intervention Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Academy Instructor, and Lieutenant.
On September 14, 1991, Robyn married her beloved partner, Barb Quick. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. They raised Savannah Strickland, Randall Porter, Kylee Strickland, and Jacobee Strickland, instilling in them the values of kindness, resilience, and integrity.
Robyn was not only dedicated to her profession and family but also found immense joy in her hobbies, which included fishing, camping, woodworking, spontaneous vacationing, and geocaching. Her family-oriented nature and passion for these activities brought her and her loved ones countless cherished moments.
Robyn also dreamed of creating a family cemetery in her backyard, a peaceful area for all loved ones in her family to rest, visit, and reflect. This dream will live on as a testament to her love for her family and the cherished memories they shared.
Robyn is survived by her loving wife, Barb Quick; her parents, Bob Burger (Cheryl) and Cleonia Burger; her daughter, Savannah Strickland; her son, Randall Porter (Melissa); her adopted daughter, Nikki Masoner; her granddaughter, Kylee Strickland (Chace); her grandson, Jacobee Strickland (Huganda); her granddaughter, Abigail Porter; her great-grandson, Tanner McDuffy; her great-granddaughter, Lucy Hamilton; her great-grandson, Britain Burrus; her great-granddaughter, Molly Burrus. She is also survived by her brother, Eric Fisher (Sharon); her sister, Ramona Tilley (Danny); her sister, Suzanne Sosby (Craig); and her brother, Andrew Barkley (Brookann). Robyn was loved deeply by her many friends and her law enforcement brothers and sisters, who considered her not just a colleague but family. She will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, and all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services, followed by professional honors, were held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.
Robyn's light will continue to shine through the lives she touched. Her legacy of compassion, bravery, and unwavering dedication to her family and community has left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Robyn's spirit lives on in the many hearts she has impacted, and her memory will forever be a source of strength and inspiration. We can't wait to hug her again. Rest in peace, dear Robyn. Your memory will forever be in our hearts.
