Roberta Jean Prang, lovingly known to many as "Penguin," passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, in Muncie, Indiana, at the age of 75.
Roberta was born on September 29, 1949, in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she grew up before later moving to Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 42, she relocated to Muncie, Indiana, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Early in her career, Roberta worked as a licensed beautician before transitioning into office management. Beyond her professional work, she was most devoted to her role as a mother. Roberta was deeply involved in her sons' lives, giving generously of her time and energy. She was especially active in the Scouting community, supporting her sons through every step of the program-from camping trips to leading fundraising events. Her dedication, warmth, and willingness to lend a hand left a lasting impact on many families.
Roberta is survived by her sons, Nathan (Jamie) Prang and Lucas Prang; and her brother, Richard Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Hopkins, and her brother, Rodney Hopkins.
Per Roberta's wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scouting America in her honor at www.scouting.org.
Roberta will be remembered for her love, humor, and steadfast commitment to her family and community.
