Roberta Joyce Samuels passed away peacefully at her home in Eureka on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born on July 29, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Grigg) Chichester. She lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and steadfast devotion to her family and her faith.
She served her community with quiet dedication as a teacher’s aide and later retired from the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services after 17 years of service, where she was known for her unwavering empathy and commitment to the well-being of others.
On May 18, 1952, Roberta was united in marriage to Robert William Samuels in Eureka, where they made their home and raised their family. A devoted homemaker, Roberta created a home that was not only warm and welcoming but deeply rooted in love, tradition, and care. Her beloved Robert preceded her in death on April 26, 2000.
A woman of deep faith and quiet strength, Roberta found joy in tending her flowers, preparing meals with care, and traveling with her sisters. Her greatest fulfillment came from cherishing moments with her children and grandchildren and faithfully worshiping her Lord and Savior. Above all, her most treasured role was that of mother and nurturer; a constant source of strength, comfort, and support to all who knew her. Roberta will be remembered for her innate kindness, gracious spirit, and a gentle heart that touched countless lives. Her presence was a blessing, her love unconditional, and her legacy one of enduring grace.
Roberta is survived by three sons: Dale Samuels of Eureka; Tracy Samuels of Topeka; and Jerry and his wife, Debi Samuels of Eureka; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Nancy Only A Chief of Pawnee, Oklahoma; and Sue Snyder of Wichita; and many other family and friends.
