Captain Robin "Rob" Carlton, a revered maritime tugboat captain, devoted family man, and friend to many, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Gonzales, Louisiana, at the age of 53. Born on May 29, 1971, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Rob's life was a testament to the power of love, generosity, and dedication. He was a resident of Slidell, Louisiana.
Rob's journey began as the beloved son of the late James W. Carlton Sr. and Shirley Ann Carlton Tynes. His early years in Louisiana instilled in him a love for the water, a passion that would shape his entire career. Rob's commitment to his maritime profession was unwavering, as he proudly served as a tugboat captain of the Bisso Towboat Company for nearly three decades. His work was not just a job; it was a calling that he fulfilled with excellence and integrity.
In his personal life, Rob was a loving husband to his wife of 29 years, Lorena Carlton, and a proud father to his son, Ian Antonio Carlton. His role as a family man was one he cherished above all else, and the love he shared with his family was the cornerstone of his life.
Rob's siblings, James Carlton, Terry Carlton, and Kimberly Carlton Holley, will remember him as a brother who always led with his heart. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. His generous spirit was a source of strength and comfort to them throughout their lives.
Beyond his family, Rob was a man of many interests. He found joy in riding his Indian motorcycle, cruising on his boat, and immersing himself in music. A talented cook, he delighted in preparing meals for his loved ones, creating moments of connection and celebration. Rob was a hands-on man, never too tired. He enjoyed having crawfish boils and blasting his favorite tunes in his man cave. He loved dogs since he was a baby; his bulldog, Bella, was always by his side, sharing in his adventures when he was home each week.
Rob was a hard-working and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. His presence was a gift to those who knew him, and his generosity extended beyond his inner circle. He lived his life with his whole heart, touching the lives of many with his kindness and warmth. Rob's legacy is one of love and service, and it will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
