Robin Council Cooper, a beloved teacher, mentor, and counselor, passed away on July 8, 2024, at her Lost Creek cabin in Decaturville, TN.
She was born on January 17, 1963, in Lexington, TN. She was preceded by her adoptive parents, Roy and Gladys Council.
Throughout her life, Robin touched the hearts of many as she dedicated herself to teaching special education and guiding numerous children as a mentor. Her impact extended beyond the classroom as she also served as a counselor to those in need. Robin's love for nature was evident in the memories she created - from cherishing the sunsets on the Tennessee river to tending to her beautiful flower beds. She also adored animals and found joy in their company.
A dedicated scholar, Robin pursued higher education and earned a master's degree. She was just a few hours away from completing her doctorate—a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning. Described as fun-loving with an infectious personality, Robin was known as a true friend with a generous heart. Her presence brought light and laughter wherever she went.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joel Cooper of Three-Way, TN; daughters, Tiffany Simmons of Arkansas and Morgan Kenlee Austin-Cooper of Oakfield; sister, Teresa Morris and husband Glenn of Bartlett, TN; brother, Kendall Tuten of Lexington, TN; sister, Darlene Tuten Vandevander of Lynchburg, VA; mother-in-law, Marilyn Cooper of Jackson, TN; sister-in-law, Susan Pierce and husband Damon; and her loyal canine companion, Toby.
Services to honor and celebrate Robin's life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Jeremy Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving will be Glenn Morris, Brent Brummer, John Fullington, Peyton Fullington, Mark Thompson and Robert Jones.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, July 11, 2024, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Jackson Animal Care Center, 23 Pinnacle Drive, Jackson, TN 38301.
Robin Council Cooper will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
