Obituary of Robin Renee Dahl
Robin Renee (Miller) Dahl, aged 64, passed away quietly on Monday, November 11, 2024 after a brief fight with cancer following a stroke.
Robin was born on Monday, May 2, 1960 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert & Sylvia (Faust) Miller. During her youth, the family moved multiple times and, at times, they lived in places like California, Indiana and throughout Minnesota.
Following the untimely loss of her mom and baby sister, Dana due to a house fire in February 1973, Robin went to live with her dad and his new family in Moose Lake and Kettle River.
While there, she was one of the first girls in Minnesota to play high school basketball under Title IX with the Moose Lake Lakers. Robin eventually moved into Foster Care where she was placed with a wonderful family in Cloquet. There, with the love and support of Duane and Betty Rose, she was able to graduate from Cloquet High School.
After graduation, she enlisted in the US Army and proudly served her nation as a member of the Military Police. Following discharge from the Army, Robin came home to northern Minnesota and because the mother to two equally fierce women; Jamie and Natasha.
While life continued to present physical, emotional and relationship struggles for Robin, she never lost the warrior spirit as she persevered and overcame her addiction to alcohol through her hard work, her undying faith and when she got the best job ever; grandmother.
It was in that role that she found her true calling as she doted on and spoiled her six grandkids; Jared, Payton and Gunnar Doty. TaeLynn Johnson, Brenden and MadiLynn Anderson. She was always ready and willing to go to their games, concerts or other school activities.
It was her faith and her family that helped keep Robin going through out her last few days on Earth.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Robert & Sylvia Miller, her foster parents Duane and Betty Rose, her older brother Benjamin Faust, her baby sister Dana Miller and her foster sister Wanda Rose.
Surviving and missing her are her daughters; Jamie (Kenny) Fischer of Rush City, MN, Natasha Johnson (Greg Anderson) of Mahtowa, MN, her cherished and deeply loved grandkids; Jared, Payton and Gunnar Doty, TaeLynn Johnson, Brenden and MadiLynn Anderson. She also leaves behind her step mother; Alice Miller of Moose Lake, MN. Her siblings; Vikki McClish of Decatur, IN, Cindy (Larry) Boschee of Cambridge, MN, Shawn (Patti) VanLiew of Brooklyn Park, MN, Peter (Dianne) VanLiew of Hibbing, MN, Jessica Miller of Leipzig, ND, Robert Miller of Superior, WI and her foster brother and sisters Petey Rose, Peggy Dougherty, Patty St.Germaine and Dianna Rose. Also left behind are her best friends and loved ones, Bill & Connie Doty of Cambridge, MN and Sarah Miller of Duluth, MN along with countless nephews and nieces, cousins and friends throughout the area.
She will be missed by her cats; Milo and Noodles along with all the squirrels and other animals she fed.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 from 1-3pm (Family an hour prior) at the Minnesota Cremation Society in West Duluth. Spring inurnment will be held at Chisholm City Cemetery where she can be reunited with her mom and baby sister.
