Robin Kay Thompson

Robin Kay Thompson was born November 5, 1965 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Larry and Karen (Burnham) Thompson.
She attended Hartford-Carlisle elementary schools and graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1984. During high school, Robin was active in band, drill team, cheerleading, yearbook and the high school newspaper. Following high school, she earned a degree in Business Administration from Iowa State University and an Accounting Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Robin worked for Pioneer and eventually moved to Kansas City where she got involved in recruiting. She had her own recruiting business for many years, eventually joining an insurance company where she enjoyed finding talented people to help the company grow. Robin recruited people from across the country and enjoyed helping people find jobs that would challenge them and that they would also enjoy. Most recently, she was employed by Global Atlantic.
In her spare time, Robin enjoyed being outside. She rode Ragbrai several years and regularly hiked and camped. Robin always followed Iowa State athletics, especially the Big 8 and Big 12 tournaments. She loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews and her close friends' children. Robin had a very strong faith that guided her throughout life, which helped make her a very up-beat and inspirational person.
Robin passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 59 years.
Those left to cherish Robin's memory include her parents, Karen and Larry Thompson; siblings: Mark (Renee Carter) Thompson and their children: Patrick, Matthew and Jasmine (Rich); James (Chris) Thompson and their children: Mandy and Samantha (Connor) Ruggles and their children, Owen and Greta Ruggles and Jodi (Martin) Milner and their children: Gavin and Cassie and many other family members and dear friends.
A funeral service for Robin Thompson, age 59 of Bondurant, will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Robin's wish to be cremated will take place at later date.
