Robin Marie Watterson Sheehan, age 65, of Barrington Rhode Island, passed away on Thursday February 10th, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous 8-month battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.
Robin is survived by the love of her life Dr. Philip D Barr, her mother Priscilla Watterson, her two children Erin Elliott & Erik Sheehan, her two stepsons Brad & Andrew Barr, her niece & nephew Travis & Coral Andrews, and by her 8 grandchildren who loved their Gigi beyond words; Rhodes & Tucker Sheehan, Emmett & Iris Elliott, Ely Henri Barr, Otis Barr, and Cooper & Bodhi Andrews. Robin was predeceased by her beloved sister Carol Andrews and her sweet father Robert Watterson.
Robin grew up in Attleboro, Massachusetts with her parents Robert & Priscilla Watterson and her sister Carol. She had a childhood filled with wonderful memories, summers at Matunuck Beach, cheerleading for Attleboro High School, and tailgating at the Patriots games with her Dad.
Robin met her first husband, David Sheehan, in college. They shared many wonderful years together raising their children and they remained friends until the day of her passing. Erin will always remember the themed birthday parties growing up like the Teddy Bear Tea Party complete with a homemade puppet show, the countless shopping and lunch days they shared during the teenage years, the daily phone calls to talk about life and love, and above all else their one of a kind mother-daughter bond. Erik learned his love of cooking from his mom, shares her love of music, and will always carry with him her unwavering support. Robin's proudest accomplishment was being a mother to her children, Erik & Erin, and a Gigi to her 8 grandchildren; Rhodes, Ely, Cooper, Emmett, Tucker, Otis, Bodhi & Iris.
Robin was always at the heart of her family. She was the quintessential host, turning any holiday, get together, or dinner into a memorable event. Immaculate centerpieces, signature cocktails, extravagant meals, and interesting people could always be found at one of Robin's gatherings. For Thanksgiving her signature dishes, turkey with truffle butter, creamy mashed potatoes, haricot verts with crispy shallots, and her homemade apple pie will be recreated by her family for years to come. For Christmas, her family would look forward to their Christmas eve pajamas, a reading of the Polar Express with hot chocolate, and Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas before waking up on Christmas morning to more presents than anyone deserves, orchestrated to ensure everyone was opening something at all times. Those skills served her well when she pursued a career as an event planner and she applied them to both her children's weddings, creating memories that will never be forgotten and a trend known as the live music "soft lounge".
Robin was a great communicator and writer. Getting her journalism degree from Westfield State University, she applied her love of the written word as a journalist for the Sun Chronicle in Attleboro Massachusetts and later merging her talents as an event planner and writer, working for Wedding Style Magazine and Labella Bride Magazine. Robin was also an educator. She taught preschool with her aunt Donna Johnson at ABC Preschool in Attleboro. After moving to Arundel, Maine, she worked at the Children's House in Kennebunk before opening her own school, The Creative Learning Center, which is still running to this day. Her children and grandchildren will always remember her creativity and ingenuity, providing them with education based crafts and activities to challenge their minds while keeping them entertained.
Then there is Robin & Philip's love story. Robin met Philip Barr when her cousin Joni set them up on a blind date. It was love at first sight. They went for a ride on Philip's motorcycle and Robin knew Philip was the one when he asked her to hold his jacket. She recalled how her father had asked her mother the exact same thing on their first date. Philip and Robin were inseparable over the last 25 years, a love for the ages. Together they traveled abroad, visiting destinations such as Paris and the Amalfi Coast in Italy and closer to home, trips like bringing Robin's daughter Erin to broadway shows in New York City or their annual trips to Maine to visit her favorite beach, Goose Rocks in Kennebunkport. They enjoyed great meals at their favorite restaurants, living together in Wayland Square in Providence and later, moving into their dream home in Barrington, Rhode Island, where they hosted holidays with their family. Most of all, they enjoyed spending time together. Philip and Robin were the love of each other's lives and always lived life to the fullest. Their love filled their lives with happiness and joy and gave her strength in her final days.
To say Robin will be missed is an understatement. The love she gave to all of those around her will remain in their hearts as they grieve the loss of such an incredibly beautiful woman. Her grace, her elegance, her compassion, her smile, her warmth, and especially her love will forever be remembered by the lives she touched along the way.
A small celebration of life will be held sometime this summer. To be notified of the event details, please leave your contact information in the comments below.

I met Robin through my best friend Patty, her sister in law. Robin had such a beautiful light and presence! I remember fondly she came to my home to do my makeup for my wedding! She used to do make up for the Miss America pageants in Florida so you can only imagine how beautiful she made me look. I ran into her over the years at family functions and was always so impressed with her elegance and confidence! I will miss her! I offer prayers and condolences to her family! May she rest I. The sweetest peace!
