Rodger Earl Boman, 77, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026.

He was born on July 30, 1948, in Plainview, Texas, to Lucy Corene Key and Wiley Green Boman. Raised with strong values and a deep sense of responsibility, Rodger carried those traits throughout his life.

Rodger proudly enlisted in the United States Navy and served for four years aboard submarines during the Vietnam War. His time in the Navy reflected his quiet strength, discipline, and commitment to serving his country.

On December 24, 1970, he married the love of his life, Mildred Louise Boyd, in Lubbock, Texas. Their Christmas Eve wedding marked the beginning of a devoted 55-year marriage built on love, partnership, and family.

Rodger worked for 25 years as an Insulation Installer with Union Local #66, providing faithfully for his family through skilled and honest labor. He later worked for 14 years as a maintenance worker for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependability.

He found great joy in tending his garden, growing vegetables and fruits that he generously shared with family and neighbors. Woodworking was another passion; he took special pride in crafting rocking horses and baby cradles for his granddaughters, delighting in the smiles they brought to their faces. Rodger also loved hunting and spending time outdoors, where the quiet of nature brought peace to his soul.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mildred Louise Boman; daughter Tina Stout and husband Ray; son Lance Boman and wife Emily; sisters Bessie Purdy, Patricia Proctor, Hellen Hoover, and Nerissa Farris; brothers David Boman and Richard Boman; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Sonny Boman, Larry Boman, and Robert Boman.

A Memorial Service will be held on March 9, 2026 at 10 AM at Idalou Church of Christ, 307 Chestnut St. Idalou, TX 79329.
