Funeral services for Rodger Dale Speir, Sr., 76, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 12 P.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at The Pentecostals of Martin with Bro. Larry Sales officiating and Bro. Nick Williamson assisting. Interment will follow in Strange Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at The Pentecostals of Martin. Services under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta, LA.
Mr. Speir was born April 13, 1948 in Winnfield, LA and passed away February 15, 2025. Mr. Speir was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Air Force for over twenty years. His military career took him to England and several European countries as well as Saudi Arabia and Korea. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked with the United States Postal Service from which he also retired.
During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching westerns and listening to music. He was a die-hard fan of Elvis Presley. Rodger never met a stranger and was a man full of life. He always had a story to tell. He simply loved to talk. He also enjoyed eating out with his family and fellowshipping with others. Rodger loved his Lord and was a devout prayer warrior. He also loved his family dearly and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Hazel Speir; maternal grandparents, Joel Edward Usrey, Sr. and Lela Durbin Usrey; paternal grandparents, R.O. Speir and Leona Regions Speir; three grandchildren: Josiah James-Wesley Speir, Jade Cross, and Sheri Cross.
Mr. Speir is survived by his son, Rodger Dale Speir, Jr. and wife Christy; four daughters, Crystal Cross and Brett, Stephanie Mattson and husband Eric, Natalie Guzman and husband Luis, and Sylvia Thompson and husband Stephen; three brothers, Teddy Speir and wife Binky, Rickey Speir and wife Bridgett, and Tommy Speir and wife Lori; grandchildren: Christopher Ren Speir, Christian Corrine Speir, Mary Ann Abigail Speir, Kendra Mogollon, Kyliegh Guzman, Aleysus Mattson, Christian Mattson, Alexander Mattson, Makenzi Mattson, Willow Mattson, Summer Cross, Shekina Cross, Barron Cross, Sunny Cross Myatt, Kristina grace Zytkoskee, Jaycee Pickett, Solomon Brummett, Nevaeh Thompson, Jason Thompson, and Trey Thompson, and; great-grandchildren: Aiden Dale Speir, Nehemiah James Manshack, Jeremiah Gage Speir, M'ason Zytkoskee, Josiah Zytkoskee, Marcus Zytkoskee, and Amazing gracelynn Zytkoskee.
Pallbearers will be Rickey Speir, Chad Speir, Stephen Thompson, Eric Mattson, Nicky Rowell, and Lyndell Usrey.
