Rodney W. "Rod" Davey, 87, of the Hallock Hill Road, Keeseville, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Plattsburgh.
Born on May 19, 1938, he was a beloved son, brother and uncle who lived a life dedicated to family, teaching, and the land.
Rod graduated from Keeseville High School in 1956 and after graduation, worked at Prescott's Mill in Keeseville and helped build houses at Plattsburgh Air Force Base. His interest in teaching led him to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1962 and Master's Degree in Education in 1969.
For three decades, he served as a dedicated teacher, first with the Greenville Central School District (1962-1970) and then with Keeseville Elementary School (1970-1993), teaching second and sixth grades. After retiring from teaching, Rod spent his time maintaining the family farm-a place where he found peace and purpose.
In his downtime, Rod enjoyed reading western novels and watching classic movies; and appreciated good meals at McLean's and Pleasant Corner, which brought him great comfort.
Rod was predeceased by his parents, Margaret "Frank" (O'Neill) and George Davey, and his brother, George "Bull" Davey.
He is survived by his nephew, Michael Davey, and nieces, Gwynn Davey and Carroll (Davey) Mannino, along with many great-nephews and great-nieces.
His love for teaching, his devotion to his parents, and his fondness for the simple joys of life will be remembered.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville. Committal prayers and entombment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to fulfill a teacher's classroom wish list via donorschoose.org.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville, 518-834-7667. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Rodney, please visit our Tree Store.
