POTOSI – Rodney K. “Rod” Meier, age 60, of Potosi, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at U W Health, in Madison. He was born January 30, 1964, the son of William “Bill” and LaVon (Slaght) Meier. Rod attended Cassville High School. On July 2, 1988, he was united in marriage to Kim M. Udelhofen at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Rod began his work career with R G F in Potosi, and later with Flexsteel in Dubuque, for over 33 years, retiring in 2020. He also owned and operated Meier Concrete LLC for over 20 years. Rod took great pride in his vehicles, keeping them spotless, fishing, gardening and having an “occasional” Busch Light. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rod loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Surviving is his loving wife of 35 years: Kim; their children: Chad (Heather) Meier, Brandon (Kimberly) Meier and Kylie (Myles) Leahy; five grandchildren: Rayna, Bronson, Oakland, Meadow, Woodlynn, and Baby Leahy, due in October 2024; siblings: Darlene Buss, Diane Buss, Doug (Sandy) Meier, Dale (Carol) Meier, Mark (Diane) Meier, Bonnie Lenz, Bob “Moon” (Sue) Meier, Dawn (Charles) Bernhardt and Lisa (Floyd) Churchill; his sister-in-law: Lynn Meier; his mother-in-law: Doris Udelhofen; brother-in-law: Kevin (Jeannie) Udelhofen; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and LaVon; his brother: Dan “Pork” Meier, His father-in-law: Donald Udelhofen; his brothers-in-law: Buzzy Buss, David Buss, Kyle Udelhofen and Jay Lenz; and a niece: Kelly Meier.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery, Waterloo Township. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Rod Meier memorial fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
