Murphy, Rodney J. passed away 8/17/22 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 86. He was born 6/24/36 in Batavia, Ohio to the late Frank and Oakey (nee Thompson) Murphy. Devoted husband of the late Mary Murphy (nee Mingual). Loving father of Pete Murphy, Jeffery (Susan) Murphy and Rhonda Murphy and the late Wayne Murphy. Brother of the late Ralph, Rollo, Gennie and Tony Murphy. Cherished grandfather of Pete "Boomer" (Nora) Murphy, Joshua (Kourtney) Zieger, Johnny (Stacey) Darling, Niki (Charlie) Brown and the late Rachel Olsen and Jesse Murphy. Uncle and 2nd father to Brandi (Lloyd) Perkins. Also survived by 12 great grandchildren and one on the way and 5 great, great grandchildren. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Rodney will be remembered for his many accomplishments as a business owner and general contractor, for his 16 years of service on Batavia Village Council, as President of Clermont County Homebuilders Association and Class President of Batavia High School in 1954. An avid fisherman and hunter, he also loved playing cards with family and friends. For many years he was a member of Batavia Rotary Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Family will receive friends Monday, August 22nd from 5 to 7 PM at the Moore Family Funeral Homes 225 Spring St. Batavia. A celebration of life will be on Tuesday 11 AM at the funeral home. Inurnment at Batavia Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s or Disabled American Veterans.
