Rodney Pearce Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 11, 2025.
Rodney Pearce, aged 62, passed away at his home in Bonner Springs, Kansas, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Born on September 4, 1963, Rodney spent a significant portion of his life in De Soto, Kansas, where he graduated from De Soto High School in 1981. He was a proud member of the "De Soto Rowdies," a group of friends he cherished deeply and through which he formed lasting bonds. In 2022, he started a new chapter, making Bonner Springs his home.

With a remarkable career spanning 41 years, Rodney was a highly respected figure in the construction industry, having dedicated his talents to Freeman and JD Bishop Construction companies as a member of Teamsters Local Union # 541. He was renowned among his peers as "the King of the String Line," a testament to his unparalleled precision and exacting standards. He also was given the nickname "Dusty" by his fellow workers. Rodney's firm belief in doing things correctly, often expressed with his resolute mantra of "his way or the highway," ensured the integrity and quality of every project he touched.

Beyond his professional life, Rodney pursued his passions with enthusiasm. He was an avid collector of unique antiques, each piece telling its own story, and took immense pride in his meticulously maintained 1970 hot rod El Camino, a true reflection of his vibrant personality.

Rodney leaves behind a loving family: his devoted wife, Lisa Knobbe, of the home; his daughter, Wendi Sutgrey of Kansas City, Missouri; and his stepson, Mark Knobbe and his significant other Ayriel, of Edwardsville, Kansas. He is also survived by his father, Alfred Pearce, of Iberia, Missouri, and his mother, Sue Hoff, of Lansing, Kansas. Rodney will be profoundly missed by his extensive network of relatives and friends, particularly his steadfast companions Nick, Kenny, and Elvin, and his loyal canine friend, Abby.

A Celebration of Life to honor Rodney Pearce will be held at the Harrington Event Center on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend and share memories of a life well-lived, marked by dedication, passion, and unwavering loyalty.
